Week 18 in Brno - Slovakia

This week has been a busy week! Hence why we are emailing today. Yesterday we were in Slovakia for training. But things are going great here in Brno. A year ago I got to the Czech republic and my first week in ostrava we started working with a member named Zdenek after i left ostrava didn't have too much contact with him. But he is now in Brno and we are working with him again. IT is pretty cool! This week we have played lots of floor ball. In the mornings with both us and the sisters in a three some and a member who likes to play sports we all run to a park and play for about 20 minutes it has been pretty fun! I read a great talk this week about atheism from elder Holland. That is exactly what we have here. IT is interesting Tuesday night we had our culture night for the transfer. We went to a string quartet which was really good! in the middle the old lady next two us had a heart attack or stroke so the ambulance had to come which added to the experience.

We taught a lot this week! We had a great lesson with Richard about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, unfortunately he wasn't at church. We had a really cool experience this week. We were traveling to a lesson and on the way we met a guy and ended up riding past our stop. In the end he didn't have interest. So we had to travel back to where we needed to be and on the way met another guy. This time we didn't have enough time to keep riding with him so we said we had to get off and he got off with us! Which never happens! He is now on baptismal date and came to FHE yesterday and came on the vylet with us this morning! He's way cool!

We got invited to a bible study class so we went this week and it was really cool. IT was in English and the highlight was one of the Czechs got a little confused so we piped in and translated it and the rest were like "whats this? The Americans are teaching Czech now?" IT was pretty funny! Sunday we had fast Sunday again because this Sunday the freiburg temple will be rededicated and will be broadcast here. WE are pretty excited! About 7 at night we got a call form a YSA couple saying they had made fruit dumplings and had extras. So we got to break our fast a little early! IT was great!

Like i said yesterday we were in Slovakia for training. It was great and our first real training with president pohorelicky. He gave a great training on harvesting and how we can improve. He talked about how when the first combines were created people probably were a little hesitant to use them instead of a scythe but showed how we can work together and find better ways to teach the people here! It was really cool! I had to translate the second half which was fun and then today we went to Moravsky kras which is some caves! They were really cool and we had a way fun time. This week is already flying, We have transfers as well! Hope you all have a good week! Love ya!

Week 17 in Brno -

This week flew by. Last Monday we headed to Prague for exchanges with the assistants. We had a ton of traffic but we made it there and had a great exchange. On Tuesday we had a first lesson with a referral. The week before the missionaries told their ward mission leader they wanted to work more with members and referrals, he called a buddy on the spot and we had a lesson with him. HE was way prepared. IT was a pretty cool lesson, and he was ready to learn about the gospel. It was a great experience. Wednesday we were back in Brno. WE had a lesson with two of our investigators a t the same time and we did some splits. Both are doing great but one doesn't want to be baptized right now.. Bummer but things are going good!

We have been focusing a lot on teaching on the street and how to improve it. WE have used brochures a lot this week and it has been cool to see their affect! Things are good! We got invited for lunch with a member on Wednesday, dinner on Thursday night and Saturday we did service and got fed after! Three times in one week is definitely a record! We got svickova twice which is a pretty good treat! On Saturday we went and did service with a member at his garden. IT is huge. But after, he let us try our hand at javelins. Last time it was shot put but this time javelin. Pretty fun! We also had a pretty good sports night and floorball is still the best! This transfer we have been focusing a lot on less actives. Every Sunday we have gone looking for members. Every week. We have found lots that don't live there but finally yesterday we had a miracle. We had already tried this home but we tried again. Last time we had tried there we met a guy after with a small child who had a guitar. We ended up setting up to meet in a park to play music together but he didn't end up coming. Turns out he is the member! We knocked on the door and he came down. Super cool! HE has a girlfriend and and 8 month old baby. Super cool and we are hoping to get to work with them now.

It has been a great week! Hope things go well as you all start school and such. Love you all!

Week 16 in Brno - Sweater Weather

Like the subject says, We had to pull our sweaters out this week. The weather has been pretty interesting and we had a couple of colder days. It is warm again now and we have had a good week.
On Tuesday we had a fun meeting with an investigator who has investigated for a while and is basically a member. She taught us how to brush our teeth correctly! This week in the morning we started running stairs! Its been a lot of fun! Also the new thing here is that new Pokemon game... We found out that our church building is a level 5 training center. Don't know if that's good or bad. But there are more people outside the church building! So its been interesting! We had a great dinner with a member this week and it has been great!

We had a great week with investigators as well! A guy we met a few weeks ago came to  English and we set up a lesson. HE came and we watched the restoration movie. HE thought is was so well done but it's not the greatest he was just feeling the holy ghost! On Friday we had exchanges and i was with Elder NEwman from my MTC group. WE had a good exchange and had a really interesting "Lesson" It was a first lesson and the girl came to the building. We started a building tour and she then asked about why we don't have crosses and then said "I read the book of Mormon and it talks really bad about the catholic church and that its the devils church" It was interesting. We said it doesn't actually say that but she didn't want to really listen and left. IT was interesting! we had a fun sports night and played floorball again. Saturday we went service tracting and one guy said we could help him for 30 minutes.. It was solid 2 and a half hours but it was great! That night we had a guy show up to a lesson that we met a week ago. WE didn't have his number but he came and is searching. WE had a really good lesson and he is on baptismal date for the 24 September.  WE also did weekly planning at a running sushi place! That was pretty fun! Sunday i gave a talk at church and talked about the power of inviting and that that is all we must do. When we invite people can feel our love and grow closer to god. It doesn't have to be a big invitation. I talked about how i always wanted to invite people to try water polo but how often i invited them to come to mutual or something like that! So just invite! Hope things are well! have a great week!

Week 15 in Brno

This week has been a great week! First of all happy Birthday amber and happy anniversary Jamie and Trent.
This week we had a lot of fun! At FHE last week we played a fun game. It is kind of like set and blink but is called Jungle speed! Pretty fun! On Tuesday we taught a recent convert here about the atonement. We took foil and made boats and then filled it with beans and when they sank we talked about our trials in life. That every boat at some point will sink but Jesus takes them away! We at least had fun with it!
We met a really cool guy this week. we were starting  to head back for dinner about 8 on wednesday and we started talking to a guy. We had talked about 5 minutes and we asked where he was going and he said on that tram that just left.. He had already missed one tram to talk to us. We ended up talking for about an hour about the restoration. IT was really cool and most often people are always in a hurry and never would miss a tram or bus for us. IT was cool to see the spirit work on him.On Thursday we were in Prague again for MLC which is always good and good to be around president!
Friday  night we had  a film night. We showed meet the Mormons and translated it to Czech. And it was a good activity.

Saturday we went with a member and did service with his daughters family who is less active. They are building a house. WE moved rocks for 2 hours. It was good service. His daughter had actually said they didn't need help but He brought us anyway. WE are a crew when there is three of us and we can get a lot done. That night we had  a really cool experience. WE were in a park because two weeks earlier a guy said he could meet but didn't come and so we talked to the next person. She began to tell us all about her life and she needed the gospel. She had been thinking lots about death and the purpose of life and we testified and bore testimony and then my companion pulled out his guitar and sang. It was really cool to see how we would lift here right when she needed it the most. She also came to church along with 2 others for the first time! IT was a great week!

Today we went on a little trip to a castle. At the reservoir here is a boat that takes you. IT was pretty fun! Hope you have a good week! This week i have studied a lot about the beginning of the church! Joseph is a prophet. He did what he did and saw what he saw!

Week 14 in Brno

Well as the subject says it was my turn for something this week. With one of my companions being sick two weeks ago this weekend it was my turn and was out Saturday and Sunday which was a bummer. I had started to get ill Thursday but we kept working and by Saturday i had a fever of about 101.5. Things are mostly better now but it has been good week!

Last Monday for family home evening we did a service project at a members home. WE finished up and he tells us to come over and he has some Bocce balls. Turns out they were shot put balls and we started to have a shot put competition. We were sore on Tuesday! This week we had a pretty fun singing display and as a district found 5 new investigators! Wednesday i met a really cool woman in a tram who in the end wanted a book of Mormon and i was able to write my testimony in it for her. It was awesome to see how the things i had learned i could write and personalize it for here! Wednesday night we started an exchange with Missionaries from olomouc. There's a pizza place here 40 which has a deal if we order 2 we get another free. And its free delivery. Usually i order the pizza but this time One of my companions ordered. It usually takes 40 minutes. He ordered at 8:10 at 10 o clock they arrive. WE ordered 5 pizzas and they came with 11.... That was a surprise! When my companion ordered he said we wanted 6 and asked if that sale still applied. They said no so he said ok rather 5 pizzas then, but they heard plus. That was a lot of pizza!

Thursday morning we had district meeting at our apartment with president and sister pohorelicky. With interviews after. It was a lot of fun to have them with us. We taught a really cool polish guy this week also and we will see what happens with him. Thursday night we got to go to a members house for dinner which was a lot of fun. WE had great food and had a really good time! Friday we had a guy show up who hadn't given us his number which doesn't happen to often. HE was really cool. WE had taught have of the plan of salvation when he asked how are church started so we started teaching the restoration too! Plans always change. Hope things are going well and that you all have a great week!
